The Faculty of Social Sciences was established in 1967 and consists of six Departments. The Department of Politics and Public Administration is structured around four diverse streams: Comparative Politics (CP), International Relations (IR), Political Theory (PT), and Public Administration (PA). The Department’s long-standing tradition is to promote international excellence in research by creating a collegial environment that supports individuals in pursuing their research interests. Research in these areas is strongly supported by two long standing taught Masters programmes - Master of International and Public Affairs (MIPA) and Master of Public Administration (MPA), and a professional doctorate in Public Administration (DPA), and by the Centre for Civil Society and Governance and the Research Hub on Institutions in China anchored in the department. More information about the Department can be obtained at https://ppa.hku.hk/.
