The Orientation for the inaugural class of our Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) programme was held on 7 September 2013. Other than providing an opportunity for students and faculty members to meet one another, the Orientation was designed to help the students get off a good start through a critical reflection upon their doctoral study.  Two discussion sessions were organized at the Orientation.  The first session focused on more generic, developmental issues that the students might encounter in the course of their doctoral pursuit; the second session was more intellectual in which prominent practitioners, including Ms. Fan Chuk Wan, Mr. Alan Lai, Mr. Peter Lai, Mr. Patrick Lau, Ms. Sandra Lee, Mr. Kim Salkeld, Mr. Chris Yeung and Dr. Yeung Sum, were invited to share their insights with the students on challenges facing Hong Kong’s governance.  The Orientation ended with a luncheon at the Senior Common Room.
